The Challenge
The customer was using Zapier, a popular no-code workflow automation tool that can be used to integrate apps and make them work together. However, they faced issues with the overhead of managing hundreds of “Zaps” and started exploring the possibility of building a simple Zapier alternative on the cloud to reduce cost, improve efficiency and manageability.
The Solution
We helped build a repeatable and reusable solution that’s built on cloud-native technologies and services. The platform included: a completely serverless architecture, dramatically reduced cost, built once and adapted to any workflows, supported multi-step workflows instead of a point click solution, and a polling-based workflow that polls an API endpoint and takes action if there is new data available. This reduced the hundreds of Zaps to half a dozen serverless function invocations, and reduced the cost from thousands of dollars to <$10 per month.
